The music of the film was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, while the background score and songs were composed by A. R. Rahman. Carnatic singer Swarnalatha and Gurukiran composed a romantic song - \"Nenjangana\". The director co-wrote the lyrics for the song along with Krishnaraj Umamaheswara Rao.[41] The song, 'Thunbilka' from the film was remixed internationally as a pop track in 2012 by singer-songwriter Srinivas for the film of the same name - Thunbili (2012).[42] The Telugu trailer for this song earned more than 3.2 million views on YouTube in five days.[43] The song won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director.[44] Impressed by the song, the Tamil Nadu government planned to give the writer, lyricist and the music composer a cash reward under the Cauvery water crisis.[45] The Government allotted 200 crore in budget for the welfare of Tamil cinema during the crisis. The Government also planned to set up a Tamil Film Industry Fund-Festival with a budget of 500 crore.[45] However, later there was a controversy regarding the increased release of anti-government ads in Tamil Nadu and the Regional Transport Authority, both owned by the Government also criticised for increasing the fares.[45] On 6 January 2019, it was announced that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister ruled that the remixed song may be used for the Tamil film that too only after the film's release.[46][47] However, it was soon found out that the producer of Thunbili (2012) owns the copyright of the song.[46] It was also noted that 'Thunbili' from the Telugu film won a National Film Award in 2012, a year before 'Thunbilka' from the film was released.[46][48] As a result, the song was not released for Thunbilka, which was released in 2012.[46][48]
The first song of the film - Kailasavadivu (Telugu) and Nenjangathe was released on 12 February 2018. The song is written by the film's director, Ranjith, the soundtrack was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, who had earlier composed the lion's share of the songs of the film. 7211a4ac4a
